BIO Falanghina IGP 2019 – Viglione | White wine | Apulia | 6 bottles

An ingenious grape variety, Verdeca.

A white vine whose origins go back more or less to 1825. It is especially widespread in Campania and in areas of southern Italy, where it finds its ideal habitat. One of the best qualities of these grapes is that the resulting wine retains its organoleptic properties unchanged regardless of where it is grown. The vine has a small wedge leaf with sparsely demarcated leaves, while the clot is more or less long, medium-sized and compact.

Description

In addition to the huge, well-known selection of grapes such as Chardonnay or red wine, there are still many rather unusual grape creepers that are still or exactly that due to these excellent fruits and vegetables. For example, the Falanghina grape variety is no secret among white wine professionals, although it plays a very minor role in the international red wine market.

An intense and flowery nose for this Falanghina from Tenuta Viglione. Aromas of vanilla, acacia honey, quince and citrus fruits lead to a beautiful structure with a fresh and hearty finish.

Our food recommendation:

We recommend our Falanghina with pureed paprika soup with pesto, olives and oregano. But Saltimbocca alla Romana is also a good companion.

Weinbeschreibung

"Falanghina is not the most famous grape variety in the world and probably immigrated to Italy from Greece a long time ago. Mineral, tropical, intense, spicy and with aromas of peach skin, pollen and yellow apple. Giovanni grows these grapes organically and at an altitude of one half a kilometer a day outside Bari – a really nice rarity.
Wavy hills with local grape varieties are the basis of Giovanni Zullo for some of the most elegant and personal wines of southern Italy. Giovanni is looking for coolness, minerality and freshness and has sought the heights to grow 100% organic grapes there. Maturity and freshness in perfect balance. “
