Description
The Primitivo, whose name has a traditional meaning and was handed down by farmers in the region, cleared the coveted “Tre biccieri” of the Gambero Rosso 2018 with the 2013 vintage. The grapes for the production of Primitivo come from the best or oldest vineyards of Tenuta Viglione and are selectively picked by hand every year according to rigorous standards. The Primitivo matures for twenty-four months in traditional, large wooden barrels made from Slavonian oak and is refined for a further four months in French barriques, followed by a six-month bottle storage period.
Our food recommendation:
Hearty, hearty dishes go well with the Primitivo. Try a pot roast made from a fresh leg of lamb. For the preparation of the sauce, use a substantial meat broth or a strong roast stock, lots of onions, plenty of garlic, tomato paste, fresh tomatoes, a dash of this Primitivo and Mediterranean herbs. We recommend grilled vegetables and rosemary potatoes as side dishes.
