BIO Nero di Troia IGP 2018 – Viglione | Red wine | Apulia | 6 Bottles

49,50

Nero di Troia is the new star of the south.

A difficult grape to grow – it ripens unevenly and late, but the taste and aroma are unique. Dark, wild berries, rosemary, English liquorice and red stone fruits. Giovanni’s version of old sticks is masterful..

Description

Apulia is one of the important regions for growing the Nero di Troia variety. The vine was brought to Italy by the Greeks and has been grown in the region for more than 3,000 years. The origin of Nero di Troia, as the name suggests, is to be found in Asia Minor and is even further back, so it is currently assumed The vines for the red wine from the Maioliche grape variety line are between 15 and 20 years old and were planted using the Guyot vine training method, which is known throughout the world of viticulture.

Our food recommendation:

The Nero di Troia fits e.g. a gratinated lasagna. The secret of a tasty lasagna lies in the specially cooked ground beef sauce, which is prepared similar to a classic Bolognese sauce. Italian housewives and professional cooks swear that this sauce will only be perfect if it has been slowly cooked for at least four hours beforehand, so that the meat is basically overcooked to contribute to the perfection of the delicious meat sauce.

Weinbeschreibung

The vineyards in which the Nero di Troia vines for this wine are grown are located in the Murgia hills, in the north of the province of Bari. We are at an altitude of approx. 450 meters and there you will find medium-heavy, limestone and clay alluvial soils. Quite barren conditions that are usually ideal for viticulture. The harvest is selectively picked by hand and the subsequent expansion takes place in steel tanks and 30% in wood. Wonderful as the 2018 Nero di Troia smells. Fully ripe plums, blueberry and raspberry aromas, which are flanked by a fine smoky component. The fruits then also show up on the tongue and on the palate, are surrounded by notes of bitter almond and liquorice. A nice acidity and smooth tannins make the Nero di Troia pleasantly round and full. A spicy aftertaste remains in the finish, with the bitter tail that is typical of the Nero di Troia variety. An honest and authentic red wine, which was awarded the great "Due bicchieri" by Gambero Rosso 2020, which goes very well with simple dishes such as sausage, ham and cheese platters as well as casseroles, stews, hearty meat dishes or pasta, pizza and Co. .
